Description
Cast in the 19th century by Ferdinand Barbedienne, this bronze sculpture with a brown patina is inspired by the Diane de Versailles, an ancient sculpture held at the musée du Louvre. The goddess is depicted in motion, with a deer at her side, drawing an arrow from her quiver. The short, close-fitting drapery and anatomical details are characteristic of this classical composition. The sculpture stands on a rectangular base measuring 15 by 20 centimetres, with an overall height of 52 centimetres.
