Returns and right of withdrawal

Maison Boitel presents pieces offered by independent professional antique dealers. This page explains who to address a return or withdrawal request to, and which rights apply when a sale is concluded at a distance with one of these professionals.

The role of Maison Boitel

The objects presented on maisonboitel.com are sold by the professional antique dealers identified as sellers on each listing.

Maison Boitel acts as a presentation and introduction platform. Where the sale is concluded directly between the buyer and the dealer, Maison Boitel is not a party to the sales contract and takes no commission.

Maison Boitel therefore does not receive returns and does not issue refunds: these are handled with the selling dealer concerned. Our team can nonetheless help you identify the seller and get in touch with them.

Right of withdrawal (14 days)

Where a consumer concludes with a professional antique dealer a distance or off-premises sale falling within the scope of the applicable right of withdrawal, they are in principle entitled to the statutory period provided for by Belgian and European regulations, generally fourteen (14) days from receipt of the goods, subject to the applicable legal exceptions.

Withdrawal and return requests must be addressed to the professional seller concerned, using the contact details and procedures communicated to you by that seller, in particular at the time of order or invoicing.

The fact that an item is antique, vintage, second-hand, unique or sold by an antique dealer does not in itself entail any automatic waiver of the right of withdrawal. Only the exceptions expressly provided for by law can set it aside, and it is for the seller to inform you clearly where such an exception applies, for example for goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised.

Practical return arrangements

The return address, transport arrangements, any return costs and refund terms are determined in accordance with the seller's conditions and the applicable mandatory legal provisions.

We recommend keeping the original packaging and proof of shipment, and agreeing the chosen arrangements in writing with the seller before sending anything back.

Furniture, artworks and fragile items

Furniture, artworks, antiques and other bulky or fragile items require specialist handling.

Before organising return transport, contact the seller so that it can be carried out under appropriate conditions: suitable packing, specialist carrier, insurance and a collection slot. This precaution protects the piece and speeds up your request; it restricts no legal right.

Damaged, non-conforming or misdescribed items

If the piece received is damaged, faulty or does not match the published description, contact the seller concerned promptly, describing the problem and attaching photographs where possible.

Your statutory rights, in particular the legal guarantee of conformity applicable to sales concluded with a professional, remain fully applicable. The age of an object and the signs of use described in the listing are not treated as defects, but they do not deprive the buyer of remedies where a genuine problem exists.

If you cannot reach the seller, write to us: we will pass your request on to the partner dealer.

Exchanges

The pieces offered are generally unique: an exchange for an identical item is usually impossible. An exchange is therefore not a systematic right and depends on the seller's agreement.

This practical impossibility in no way limits your statutory rights to a refund, a return or any other remedy where applicable.
