Terms of use
Last updated: 15 September 2026
These terms of use govern access to and use of maisonboitel.com, whether you are a visitor, a prospective buyer or a partner dealer. By using the site, you accept these terms.
1. Purpose of the site
Maison Boitel operates a multilingual platform (French, English, Dutch, German) presenting pieces held by independent professional antique dealers based in Europe, and connecting those professionals with interested buyers.
The site is not an online shop: no payment, no basket and no order is processed on maisonboitel.com. Each listing identifies the dealer who owns and sells the piece.
An enquiry sent from a listing is forwarded to that dealer, who then contacts the enquirer directly. Maison Boitel takes no part in the negotiation, payment, shipping or handover of the object.
2. Free of charge for an undetermined period
Access to the site is open and free for visitors.
Publishing pieces and using the dealer area are currently free for partner dealers, with no minimum term and for an undetermined period.
This reflects the platform's current phase: Maison Boitel wants to gather enough real usage data (audience, enquiries received, pieces published) before setting the price of any subscription.
Should a subscription ever be introduced, partner dealers will be informed by email in advance, it will apply to future periods only, it will never be retroactive, and no dealer will be charged without explicitly accepting a subscription offer. Without such acceptance, the account remains available on a free plan or can be closed at no cost.
3. No commission on sales
Maison Boitel takes no commission, no percentage and no margin on sales made by partner dealers. This commitment is structural and permanent: the platform will never take a commission on sales.
Prices are set freely by the dealer, who keeps the entire proceeds of the sale.
Maison Boitel receives no deposit, no payment and holds no funds on behalf of dealers or buyers.
4. Dealer area and responsibility for content
The dealer area is reserved for professionals accepted by Maison Boitel. Sign-in uses a link sent by email: the email address is the account's single identifier.
The dealer alone is responsible for the information published: description, period, materials, condition, provenance, dimensions, price, photographs, and the lawfulness of offering the object for sale.
The dealer warrants that they hold the rights to the photographs supplied and allows Maison Boitel to use them to present the piece on the site, in product feeds and on the house's social media.
Maison Boitel may review, correct, translate, retouch photographs, refuse or withdraw a listing that does not comply with these terms or the site's editorial standards, without thereby assuming responsibility for the content.
A dealer can only access their own pieces, enquiries and data.
5. Use by visitors and buyers
Information published in listings is supplied by dealers and given for guidance. It is not a contractual offer by Maison Boitel.
Any sale is concluded directly between the buyer and the dealer. Statutory guarantees, invoices and any right of withdrawal are the dealer's responsibility.
The site's forms must be used in good faith. The following are prohibited: fraudulent enquiries, automated scraping of the catalogue, commercial reuse of photographs and texts, and any attempt to compromise the site's security.
6. Intellectual property
The Maison Boitel name and brand, the visual identity, editorial texts, the journal, the guides and the site's structure are protected.
Photographs of pieces remain the property of the dealer who supplied them or of their author.
Any reproduction or reuse, in whole or in part, without written permission is prohibited.
7. Availability and changes to the service
Maison Boitel uses its best efforts to keep the site available but does not guarantee uninterrupted access: maintenance, updates or technical incidents may temporarily suspend it.
Features may change, be added or removed. These terms may be amended; the version in force is the one published on this page, with its update date.
Either party may end the relationship at any time: a dealer may ask for their area to be closed and their pieces removed, at no cost and without notice.
8. Liability
As Maison Boitel is not the seller, it cannot be held liable for the authenticity, condition, conformity, delivery or payment of the objects presented.
Maison Boitel cannot be held liable for disputes between a buyer and a dealer, nor for indirect damage such as loss of turnover or a missed opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits the mandatory rights granted to consumers under Belgian and European law.
9. Personal data
The processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law. In the event of a dispute, the courts of the judicial district of Brussels have jurisdiction, without prejudice to protective rules applicable to consumers.
