Discover an exceptional 18th-century sculpted stone architectural ensemble, composed of an armorial pediment bearing the Royal Coat of Arms of Savoy and its epigraphic inscription "TANCA". Intended to adorn the entrance portal of a grand feudal estate in Sardinia, this historic piece of remarkable heritage value belonged to the noble family of Catalan origin, Amat, established on the island since the 14th century. The high-relief features the oval shield with a cross surmounted by the royal crown (adopted by the Princes of Savoy when they acquired the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1720), framed by crossed cannons and military motifs. The term « Tanca » (derived from the Catalan 'tancar', meaning to close or enclose) refers to these imposing fortified farm-castles. Retaining a striking original patina, this baroque armorial pediment is a rare testimony to the military and heraldic history of the House of Savoy in the Mediterranean, ideal for a collector of architectural antiques or to enhance a prestigious residence.
