Description
This oil on canvas from the second half of the 19th century is signed lower left by the artist Jean-Baptiste Durand-Brager. The composition depicts a lively harbour scene, probably Haïfa, with a large two-masted vessel sailing along the shore alongside smaller boats. Mount Carmel appears in the background beneath a luminous sky, rendered in a southern palette, with brushwork reworking the surface of the water. The painting measures 50 cm high by 80 cm wide unframed, and 70 cm by 100 cm in its original frame. It has been professionally cleaned and revarnished, and its frame has been restored.
