Gilded wooden stool, Louis XVI period

This gilded wooden stool with tapestry dates from the Louis XVI period. Its moulded waistband rests on four connecting blocks positioned at the corners, adorned with geometric motifs carved in relief. The base comprises four tapered, fluted legs, punctuated at their upper junctions by carved rings. The quadrangular seat is covered with period tapestry featuring a design of drapery and roses, secured with a row of metal tacks. Wear, loss and damage to the gilding are visible across the entire gilded woodwork, particularly on the legs and the moulded band. The seat fabric has an aged and subdued patina.
