Military scene, oil on canvas attributed to Philips Wouwermans, 17th century

This 17th-century oil on canvas depicts a composition attributed to the painter Philips Wouwermans. The work depicts a military scene centred on a camp with flags and tents. In the centre of the painting are several horsemen and their mounts, notably a piebald horse, accompanied by a dog in the foreground. To the left of the composition, a seated figure is seen near the path, whilst in the background a rolling landscape stretches out beneath a cloudy sky. The canvas measures 54 cm wide by 42 cm high. A network of craquelure and surface wear appear to be visible across the entire paint layer.
