Description

This 20th-century ceremonial egg is a unique display piece. Crafted from a genuine ostrich egg, this object is adorned with a medallion bearing the portrait of Paul Kruger, President of the Transvaal Republic and a leading figure in the Boer resistance against the British government. The whole is supported by a ceremonial silver-plated metal mount comprising a leafy branch emerging from a circular base, chiselled with a decoration of leaves, flowers and insects. This base rests on three anthropomorphic feet, whilst a small ostrich figurine completes the piece. Measuring 56 cm in height and 18 cm in diameter, this piece, which is in perfect condition, will be a fine addition to a collection of exceptional display pieces.
