"After the sitting", oil on canvas signed A. Monti

This Italian School oil painting on canvas dates from the early 20th century. The work is by A. Monti and is signed lower right. The composition depicts two young women examining a canvas after a sitting, while the painter prepares his colours on his palette. The scene is set in an interior furnished with curved Louis XV-style furniture, a large mirror with a moulded frame and a tapestry. The canvas alone measures 58 cm by 84 cm, and 80 cm by 105 cm with its gilt frame. The paint surface has been cleaned and varnished, and the frame has been regilded.
