"Oriental girl with antilope" ZANNERMAN William

This oil painting on canvas, presented in a modern gilt frame, dates from the early 20th century. Painted by William Zannerman of the Danish School, the work is signed lower left and inscribed « Egypte ». This Orientalist portrait depicts a young girl seated on a rug, leaning against a cushion. Dressed in striped blue fabric and wearing a turban, she has jewellery on her wrists and ankles and rests her hand on an antelope, which is also adorned. The canvas measures 82 cm high by 57 cm wide, and 102 cm by 78 cm including the frame.
