"Still-lifes of fruit and flowers", porcelaine plaques, Mariotte Ernest

This pair of painted porcelain plaques was created in 1866 by the French painter Ernest Mariotte. The pair comprises two still lifes: the first depicts an assortment of fruit, while the second features a bouquet of flowers with a butterfly. Rendered in a rich palette, both works are signed and dated at the lower left. They are presented in their original frames. The plaques measure 28 cm square, and 45 cm including the frames. They are in very good condition. A pupil of Ange-Louis-Guillaume Lesourd-Beauregard, Ernest Mariotte exhibited at the Salon in 1864, 1865, 1867 and 1870.
