Description

This set of display pieces comprises nine entomological boxes crafted from wood and cardboard, dating from the 20th century. The set was created in Belgium by an entomologist around 1950. Each box contains preserved butterflies, pinned in place. Several families of butterflies are identified and named on old labels preserved inside. Each box measures 39.8 centimetres in height by 29.8 centimetres in width. The set is in very good condition. Its provenance confirms that it was created by a Belgian entomologist around 1950. This set provides a documented record of entomological work in the 20th century.
