Set of three cast-iron Athenian incense burners, 19th century

This set of three Athenian perfume burners is made of cast iron with a green patina and dates from the 19th century. The tripod structure consists of curved uprights adorned at the top with gilded lion’s heads and ending in claw-shaped feet. At the top, the circular cast-iron basin holds a removable insert into which fuel oil can be poured and a cotton wick placed. These torch holders have a burn time of approximately four hours. Visual inspection reveals a green patina applied to the cast iron, contrasting with the gilded finish of the sculpted motifs. The set remains in perfect working order.
