Description
Carved from a single block of aventurine, this Renaissance-style sculpture depicts the head of a warrior, likely Macedonian. Crafted towards the end of the 16th century in the workshops of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, under Laurent Le Magnifique, it was fashioned from a semi-precious stone from the quartz family. The artwork measures 18 cm in width by 27 cm in height. Located in Brussels, this sculpture is in very good condition. The mastery of carving from a single block highlights the expertise of late 16th-century Tuscan workshops.
