Description
Dating from the 19th century and probably of Italian workmanship, this marble basin is distinguished by its carved white Carrara marble pedestal depicting three child tritons amid swirling waves. The upper basin, carved from warmly toned, veined marble, rests directly on the sculptural group. The piece is supported by a solid column shaft in veined marble, the whole resting on a square black marble plinth. The overall height is 153 cm, with a footprint of 43 cm square.
