Description

This architectural mantel clock is crafted in bronze with two contrasting finishes, combining dark patinated surfaces with mercury-gilt ornament. The chased dial bears the signature of Charles Prosper Leroy, a Parisian clockmaker active on rue du Temple between 1810 and 1830. A flared, handled bowl forms the finial, while the lower section is decorated with rosettes and a bas-relief depicting a lyre flanked by swans. The silk-suspension movement has been dismantled, cleaned and fully serviced; it is in working order and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell.
