Art Nouveau armchair in carved and polychrome elm

This chair takes the form of an upholstered armchair crafted from carved and polychrome elm wood, characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. The woodwork features a structure with supple, organic lines. The carved ornamentation depicts a botanical motif comprising leaves and branches of chestnut trees, tulips and irises. A carved flower adorns the top of the backrest, whilst the armrests and legs are adorned with a garland of foliage. The seat, backrest and armrests are upholstered and covered in a fabric featuring shades of coral, turquoise and green against a light background. On the reverse, the backrest features plain turquoise upholstery.
