Description
Based on a composition by James Pradier, this Napoleon III-period bronze sculpture depicts Dionysus or Bacchus as a child held aloft by a female figure reclining on a lion skin. The cast features a gilt patina on the figures, contrasting with the dark green of the rocky base. The sculptor’s signature appears on the base, together with the inscription « Hors concours ». The piece measures 51 cm in height, 54 cm in width and 30 cm in depth.
