This bronze marine sextant was manufactured in the 18th century by Andreas Vogler, a producer of astronomical instruments and equatorial sundials active in Augsburg around 1730-1800. Kept in very good overall condition, this scientific instrument is both complete and functional. It is housed in its original wooden transport case, which still contains its instruction manual written in French and German. This instrument measures 31 cm in length and 37 cm in height. A display piece kept in Brussels, this historical object combines the technical interest of maritime measurement with the meticulous craftsmanship of bronze.
