Description
This oil on canvas painting, entitled « Amour courtois », was executed between 1881 and 1914. Associated with the Spanish School, the work is signed lower left by Carlos Alonso-Perez, a painter who worked mainly in France. The Rococo-style composition depicts an outdoor scene of courtship, with several figures in a wooded park. A stone balustrade and the outline of a château can be seen in the background. The work measures 73 cm in height by 60 cm in width unframed, and 101 cm by 88 cm including the frame. The canvas has been relined and professionally cleaned, and the frame has been regilded.
