Pair of large Sèvres porcelain vases, 19th century

A pair of large lidded porcelain vases dating from the 19th century, produced by the Sèvres porcelain factory. The vases feature a dark blue ground embellished with gold scrollwork and foliage motifs. The front of each vase bears a painted cartouche depicting a lively, classically inspired scene, whilst the reverse side reveals a bucolic landscape. The structure features gilded side handles in the shape of anthropomorphic figures. The set rests on a gilded metal base with bevelled corners and is topped by a lid surmounted by a beaded handle.
