Limoges Porcelain Inkwell

This shuttle-shaped desk inkwell was crafted from Limoges porcelain around 1930, in a distinct Empire style. Against an elegant white background, a hand-painted polychrome floral decoration adds a delicate botanical touch. The piece features two ink receptacles with domed gilded copper lids, chased with foliage, framed by five circular openings highlighted by a matching frieze. These slots are designed to accommodate pens, pencils, sealing wax sticks, and a seal, the latter being present with the set. A rectangular space in the center holds the drying powder for ink. A fine gold frieze borders the upper contour and the volute handles, completing this display cabinet object.
