Gilded bronze bowl, Renaissance style, 19th century

This gilded bronze footed bowl was made in the 19th century. It is in the Renaissance style and bears the stamped mark of the founder A.D. on its base. The object consists of a flared gilded bronze bowl adorned with a chiselled design of interlacing patterns, foliage and an upper frieze of ovules. The sculpted baluster shaft is supported by crouching chimera figures holding up the upper section. The moulded circular base features radiating gadroons and engraved bands. Beneath the foot, the central fixing reveals a threaded shank and the mark of the founder, A.D. The piece measures 15 cm in height.
