Description
Signed by Carl Kahler, this oil on canvas associated with the Austrian school depicts a seated young woman holding an Angora cat. The composition contrasts the luminous tones of her dress and the cat's fur with a backdrop of large tropical leaves in dark red tones. A blue ribbon held by the sitter adds a further touch of colour to the drapery. Retaining its original frame, the work measures 71 cm by 63 cm unframed and 107 cm by 100 cm framed.
