Description

This oil on canvas is dated 1931 and belongs to the German school of the Art Deco period. Painted by the German painter and illustrator Heinrich Max Vogel (1871-1939), the work is an allegory of spring. The composition depicts two nude children playing beside a pond in a birch woodland landscape evocative of the Bavarian forest, with a squirrel perched on a branch. The work is characterised by a luminous palette. The canvas is signed and dated lower right and is presented in its original frame.
