Originating from northern China and dating from the late Qing period (late 19th – early 20th century), this apothecary cabinet has a wooden structure finished in a patinated blue lacquer that reveals the grain beneath. The front is arranged in fifteen drawers across five horizontal rows, each fitted with a metal ring handle. A frieze of small carved panels accents the upper section, while the cabinet rests on a base incised with scrolling foliage and cloud motifs. Traditionally used to store herbs and preparations, this fully restored example measures 91 cm in height, 88 cm in width and 37 cm in depth.
