Description

This pair of 19th-century bookends is entirely in keeping with the Empire style. The pieces take the form of neoclassical busts depicting female profiles, immediately recognisable by their Egyptian-style headdresses. The composition follows the aesthetic repertoire of 19th-century neoclassicism through the depiction of facial features and the details of the headdress. These display pieces measure 17.5 centimetres in height, 10 centimetres in width and 8 centimetres in depth. The set is offered in its current condition. The theme of the busts evokes the influence of Egyptomania associated with the 19th-century Empire style.
