Dated 1902, this oil on wood panel depicts a landscape extending towards a line of trees on the horizon. Measuring 22 cm by 32 cm, the work bears the artist's monogram and date at the lower right. A Belgian painter trained at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, Willy Schlobach (1864-1951) co-founded the group Les XX in 1883 alongside James Ensor, Fernand Khnopff and Théo Van Rysselberghe, among others. The composition reveals a succession of undulating landforms in shades of mauve, green and pale blue. The work is in very good condition.
