This architectural mantel clock from the Restauration period (1810-1830) has a bronze case with a dual finish of black patina and mercury gilding. It is surmounted by a removable bowl with scrolling handles. The dial with Roman numerals, framed by a frieze of chased foliate motifs, sits above an openwork decoration of scrolls and foliage in gilt bronze. Although unsigned, this piece is attributed to the clockmaker Charles Prosper Leroy on the basis of close stylistic similarities to a signed portico clock. Measuring 32 cm in height, with a base of 14,5 by 8,5 cm, the clock has a fully serviced movement in perfect working order.
