Venetian painter’s stool in carved wood, late 18th century

This painter’s stool, carved from wood and finished with a patina, dates from the late 18th century and originates from Venice. The seat takes the form of a shell carved with radiating mouldings, extended at the front by two opposing volutes. The base consists of four curved legs joined by an X-shaped crossbar. The surface retains a bluish and green patina, which is visibly worn, revealing the raw wood on the seat and the legs. The paintwork shows pronounced areas of loss and flaking throughout the structure, visible evidence of the chair’s use.
