Description
Made in the late 19th century in the Sèvres taste with Louis XV-style forms, this porcelain basket features a sky-blue ground embellished with gilt motifs. Two cartouches adorn the body: one depicts a courting couple in a formal French garden, the other a flowering shrub, while further painted floral compositions decorate the interior of the bowl. The porcelain is set in a gilt-bronze mount with pierced scroll handles and a twisted stem on a moulded base. The piece measures 27 cm in height and 28 cm in diameter and is in good condition, retaining its original gilding.
