Art Deco dining table, De Coene in Belgium

This oval dining table in mahogany veneer and brass dates from circa 1930 and originates from Belgium. Unmarked, it is attributed to the De Coene manufactory, based in Courtrai. The two-part top features chequerboard marquetry framed by a border. It rests on a substantial fluted central pedestal with a hammered brass mount encircling its base. Designed with a sliding extension mechanism, the table can extend to five metres in length; extension leaves are not supplied. It measures 78 cm in height, 160 cm in length and 112 cm in width, and is presented in restored condition. The De Coene manufactory was active in the production of Art Deco furniture during this period.
