This French dressing case, dating from the Napoleon III period, takes the form of a rectangular ebonised wood box enhanced with inlaid decoration and metal fittings. It measures 14 cm in height, 28 cm in width and 22 cm in depth. The lid opens to reveal a fitted interior incorporating a mirror, several small boxes and crystal bottles with silver stoppers. A removable tray holds the bone-handled grooming implements, preserving the original arrangement of the set.
