Executed in charcoal on paper, this drawing measures 31 cm in height and 21 cm in width and is signed and dated « Corneille '46 » in the lower right corner. Created early in the career of Guillaume van Beverloo, known as Corneille (1922-2010), an artist born to Dutch parents in Liège and a future co-founder of the Cobra movement, this work is characterised by expressive lines. The figures depicted evoke the aesthetic of cabaret dancers and early 20th-century revues, with a touch of exoticism. The work is presented in perfect condition, with a mount in a dark frame.
