Biography

Born in Liège in 1922 to Dutch parents, Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, known as Corneille, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. A co-founder of the experimental Reflex group in 1948 and of the CoBrA movement in 1949 with Karel Appel, Constant and Asger Jorn, he developed, after settling in Paris in 1951, a colourful style influenced by Miró and Klee. He died in L'Isle-Adam in 2010.
