Biography

Ferdinand Schirren (Antwerp, 1872 – Brussels, 1944) was a Belgian painter, watercolourist and sculptor. Trained in sculpture at the Brussels Academy under Jef Lambeaux, he later turned to painting and watercolour. A member of the Labeur association from 1898, he became in the 1910s one of the leading figures of Brabant Fauvism, alongside Rik Wouters.
