Biography

Roger Capron (1922-2006) was a French ceramicist born in Vincennes. Trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, he settled in Vallauris in 1946, founding the Atelier Callis with Robert Picault and Jean Derval. In 1952 he acquired a disused pottery and developed a production of tiles, vases and ceramic tables, recognised notably with a gold medal at the 1954 Milan Triennale. His workshop closed in 1982, after which he returned to one-off pieces.
