Biography

Born in 1908 in Argentina into a family of gem dealers, Fred Samuel founded his jewellery house in Paris in 1936, at 6 rue Royale. He first made his name as a specialist in cultured pearls, before developing from the 1950s a pronounced taste for coloured gemstones. The house has collaborated with artists including Jean Cocteau, Bernard Buffet and Georges Braque.
