Biography

Born Joseph Perzl in 1892 and trained as a master glazier in Munich, Jean Perzel settled in Paris in 1910 and worked in Jacques Grüber's studio from 1919 to 1922. In 1923 he founded his own lighting workshop, adapting stained-glass techniques to electric light, and was naturalised French in 1925. His workshop lit the Palace of the League of Nations in Geneva and the liner Normandie. He died in 1986.
