The Daum glassworks was founded in Nancy in 1878 by Jean Daum (1825-1885), who took over the Sainte-Catherine glass factory. His sons Auguste and Antonin expanded the firm and created an art department around 1891, collaborating with artists such as Jacques Gruber, Henri Bergé and Almaric Walter. Daum became a leading Art Nouveau and École de Nancy maker and won a Grand Prix at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. The company remains active, notably in pâte de cristal.
