Belgian crystal manufacture founded in 1826 on the site of a former Cistercian abbey at Seraing, near Liège, by chemist François Kemlin and engineer Auguste Lelièvre. The firm reached its peak around 1900, exporting most of its production, notably to Imperial Russia. Designer and goldsmith Philippe Wolfers introduced Art Nouveau crystal there from 1901. Val Saint Lambert remains Belgium's principal crystal manufacturer.
