Biography

Theodor Josef Hubert Hoffbauer, known as Fédor Hoffbauer, born on 13 October 1839 in the Rhineland, arrived in Paris in 1851 and was naturalised French in 1873. Trained as an architect, he devoted himself to the historical reconstruction of Paris, producing numerous views and a diorama, 'Paris à travers les âges', presented at the Théâtre Marigny in 1885. A member of the Commission du Vieux Paris, he published the illustrated book of the same title. He died in Paris on 28 October 1922.
