Biography

Born in Antwerp in 1822, Joseph Jaquet trained at the Antwerp Academy and under Louis Jéhotte and Guillaume Geefs in Brussels. A widely commissioned official sculptor in Belgium and the Netherlands, his works include the pediment and lions of the Brussels Stock Exchange and the equestrian statue of Baldwin of Constantinople in Mons. A professor at the Brussels Academy, he died in Schaerbeek in 1898.
