Large writing case in Boulle marquetry

This writing slope in Boulle marquetry, crystal, green leather and fabric was made in France in the 19th century. The case features Boulle marquetry with gilt foliate scrollwork on a red ground. The sloping top incorporates a writing surface covered in its original green leather, fitted with a lifting ring and retaining its key. The upper section has a pen tray flanked by two crystal inkwells with metal lids. A moulded gilt-metal border frames the piece. It measures 11 cm in height, 48,5 cm in width and 39 cm in depth. The leather and fabric are original.
