Louis XVI-style flat-topped desk, late 19th century

This Louis XVI-style flat-topped desk is crafted from polished fruitwood, blackened wood, gilded wood and gilded bronze, embellished with gilded brass mouldings and a top covered in cognac-coloured leather. Dating from the late 19th century, the design is influenced by the creations of the cabinetmaker Philippe Claude Montigny. The body features three front-facing drawers, highlighted by mouldings and fitted with gilded bronze keyholes. The structure rests on tapered legs ending in gilded bronze feet. The top features gilded motifs applied to the leather, surrounded by a blackened wood border. Signs of wear and a patina of age are visible on the leather surface.
