Gueridon table in gilt wood and porcelain plaques, Sèvres style

This giltwood guéridon with porcelain plaques in the Sèvres style dates from the mid-19th century. The circular top is centred by a porcelain plaque with a sky-blue ground depicting The Abduction of Europa, painted after the 1750 composition by Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre. It is surrounded by oval painted porcelain medallions depicting women from the circle of Louis XVI, including Marie-Antoinette. The carved and gilded wooden border features foliate scrollwork framing each porcelain element. The table measures 82 cm in diameter and 76 cm in height.
