Louis-Philippe Giltwood Barometer and Thermometer

This Louis-Philippe period mercury barometer and thermometer stands out with its hexagonal giltwood structure. The frame features a decoration of foliage and volutes, surmounted by a stylized lyre adorned with leaves, which houses the thermometer. Operating according to the mechanism created in 1644 by the Italian scientist Evangelista Torricelli, this instrument indicates the weather and temperature. The dial is signed by Xavier Binda. The ensemble measures 38 cm in length and 54 cm in height. Preserved in very good condition, this object combines scientific precision with 19th-century decorative elegance.
