X Chair in stainless steel and leather by Maria Pergay, circa 1975

This chair, model X, is designed in polished stainless steel and cream leather. Produced circa 1975, based on a creation by Maria Pergay (1930-2023), it was published in France by Design Steel. The piece illustrates the designer’s characteristic sculptural use of metal, reflecting her interest in continuous, supple, and graphic metallic structures. The object has approximate dimensions of 65 cm in height, 45 cm in width, and 45 cm in depth, and is in used condition. A major figure in French design from the second half of the 20th century, Maria Pergay distinguished herself from the 1960s by her work with steel.
