Liège chandelier in glass and silver-plated wood, late 18th century

This chandelier, crafted from blown glass, cut glass, crystal and silver-plated wood, was produced in Liège in the late 18th century. The light is distributed via ten arms arranged on two distinct levels. Its central column is structured around a succession of spheres and ovoid shapes crafted from fluted blown glass. The ornamentation combines a decorative repertoire featuring acanthus leaves, daisies, pinwheels and fleur-de-lis motifs. Silver-plated wooden elements are incorporated into the structure of the central stem, whilst gracefully curved arms of twisted glass support the lampshades and hold the cut glass pendants. The piece stands over two metres tall. No information is given regarding its condition or provenance.
