Biography

Born in Paris in 1763, Antoine-Denis Chaudet was a French neoclassical sculptor and painter, trained under Jean-Baptiste Stouf. Winner of the Prix de Rome in 1784, he stayed at the French Academy in Rome before returning to Paris in 1789. A member of the Institut from 1805, he produced the statue of Napoleon for the Vendôme column and L'Amour, now in the Louvre. He died in Paris in 1810.
